Ellis Oppenheim

A noted New York City potter, has been making and exhibiting ceramics for over thirty-five years. In addition to showings in NYC, his work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the Hudson Valley.  He studied pottery making at Arrowmont, Peter’s Valley, and had the opportunity to expand and refine his skills in France

 Oppenheim works exclusively in delicate porcelain, making simple shapes thrown on the wheel and then altered.  He likes to play with a mix of glazes to explore the ways in which colors can run together to result in unexpected tones.  Oppenheim's distinctive work is recognized for its unique style, muted tones, and both its functional and purely decorative attributes.
